Ageism Action Day: Micro-grants for Age-friendly Communities

Last updated:

Age Friendly York is one of over 70 age friendly communities in England, led by the Centre for Ageing Better.

In January 2024 they’ll be launching a national campaign to raise awareness and understanding of ageism because most people don’t know it even exists.

The Action Day on March 20th is a key part of our new campaign, giving people an opportunity to take action in their own lives and communities.

More details will be made available on their new campaign website when it launches in January. As well as running or getting involved in local events, there will be plenty of opportunities to take part and raise awareness online.

Micro-grants for Age-friendly Communities

We want everyone to be able to take part in the Action Day, but we know it can often be easier for some people than others to find the time and money to be able to do so.

small number of micro-grants are being made available for community groups and local voluntary sector organisations within communities who are part of the UK Network of Age-friendly Communities. More about the grants, eligibility and deadlines can be read here.

Ideas for events and activities on the day

They'll be providing packs for groups and individuals that want to take part in the day, both those who are awarded microgrants, and those who are keen to take part without grants. These will include materials that will be useful on the day such as logos, posters, flyers and stickers. We’ll also be sharing ideas of what you could do for inspiration in the lead up to the day.
