GPs or ‘General Practitioners’
GPs offer clinical care for medical needs under Primary Care Networks (PCNs)– everyone under the NHS should have access to a GP. You can find details of these and how to register with a GP or change practice, depending on the area you live and here.
GPs can refer or signpost people to support or treatment related to their mental health, either through resources available within the PCN, the voluntary sector, or within Secondary Care Mental Health Services via assessment with the Access Team – GPs are often a good first point of contact if you are struggling with your mental health.
York Integrated Care Team (YICT) work closely with GP practices across York to help keep people well – you can find out more about what they offer.
