Mental Health Access Team
Mental Health Access Team - York & Selby Access to Mental Wellbeing Service provides primary care mental health assessments and psychologically-informed ‘brief interventions’ which focus on low mood, chronic anxiety and managing difficult emotions. Referrals can be made via GP (who can request an assessment on behalf of a patient) or other allied NHS services.
Guided self help for disordered eating is also now offered by this team, as part of their brief interventions programme. The Access Team can refer you on to the relevant secondary care team where it is indicated this support is needed, following an assessment – for example, the Community Mental Health Teams. Where an assessment outcome is that you don’t meet the criteria set out for these more specialist mental health services, then appropriate alternative signposting options will be offered for other available support. This will be shared with your GP also, if appropriate.
