Mental Health Social Work Team/Approved Mental Health Practitioners (AMHPs)
AMHPs are Approved Mental Health Practitioners, usually Social Workers, who are part of Mental Health Social Work Teams in Adult Social Care. Find out more about Adult Social Care Services.
AMHPs are involved in and play an important role in Mental Health Act (MHA) Assessments. They also carry a caseload of people who have Care Act eligible needs related to their mental health and a package of care and support.
You can find out more information about MHA assessments and the role of AMHPs.
The Mental Health Social Work Team in York also has a ‘Pathways to Recovery’ Team who work closely with Foss Park Hospital to help improve discharges from hospital and holistic follow on support in the community.
