Live Well York Newsletter - Spring 2024
Welcome to the latest Live Well York newsletter. We have a number of new features to share with you.
Latest News
You can submit news to Live Well York via the 'Suggest a News Story link'. Here's a recent selection:
Its important to ensure we are providing information on any national changes that may have a significant impact to residents in York. Latest News also gives you the opportunity to celebrate the work you are doing and raising the profile of new initiatives.
Don’t forget these articles can be added into a personal booklet and printed for those that do not use the internet.
New Development
- From June/July onwards the last 3 Latest News Articles will feature on the front page of Live Well York. We hope this automated process will help us keep the website feeling fresh. So please do use it
- From June/July the homepage will have an announcement banner. We will use this to promote national week of eg/ Dementia Week but do contact LiveWellYork@york.gov.uk if you have an idea of what needs promoting/announcing.
TIP – a lot of our readers will go through the home page but not everyone. Some people will use a saved link or be navigated to a specific page on our website. If you have social media then you can copy the link for your Latest News article and post it in your social media channel to increase the quantity of people that will see it.
New Feature
- Page ratings include URL of specific directory listings – We can now track which directory listings users are rating
- Page report – We’ve built a new page report which shows us when pages were last updated and who the page owners are. This will help us keep the site updated and contact people when their pages need reviewing.
- Short description on Services & Products directory – As requested, we’ve added the ‘Short description’ to the Services directory to match the Hubs & Clubs directory. This helps create a cleaner view in the directory lists so the users can decide if to click on your entry. Now is a good time to review your entries by clicking “suggest changes” at the bottom of your entry. This gives you the opportunity to add your short description.
Partners Meeting
At the last partners meeting (we have 19 partners that include statutory and voluntary sector organisations) we discussed that there was a proposal to no longer fund the Live Well York coordinator post. This created a great challenge for us. However, we have now come to an arrangement with our internet provider to manage the directory entries. There is now an automated process in place for both holders of directory entries and information page owners. Owners will receive an automated message every 6 months to check your entry. We hope these changes will have little or no impact on the users of the website and you will see later on in the newsletter that we will be consulting both residents and practitioners to ensure we have got it right.
Coming Soon
We are working on both a dementia and a mental health pathway. These pathways will hopefully help people to understand what is available to them both in respect to services and what is available in the community regardless of their level of need.
We have been out with adult social care and health colleagues to understand what questions are important to people with dementia and their carers. We are using this information to help design this pathway. The themes will be based on the dementia strategy which are: preventing well; diagnosing well; supporting well; living well and dying well. There will also be a carers section and a professional section.
Analytics
You may be aware that Google changed the way they gather analytics. This has affected everyone internationally. It does mean that the new numbers are lower so it will take a number of months before we can make comparisons again.
Training
Live Well York training was provided by our Co-ordinator. If a team does require training then do contact me and I will see what I can do 01904 554595.
Residents
Are you a resident of York and understand the importance of people being able to access the information they need and for it to be up to date? Then you could be our eyes and ears. If you notice anything happening in your community for adults, whether this an activity or service then if you have a minute please do check to see if its on Live Well York. If it isn’t then please contact LiveWellYork@york.gov.uk. Or if you know the people that run it then please do encourage them to post it themselves.
Survey
We will be carrying out a survey in about 4 months time. This will help us understand if we are still providing a good quality website.
