Information Survey – Autumn 2024
We carried out an information survey during the autumn which included specific questions on website provision including Live Well York.
Out of a score of 5, percentage of respondents rating Live Well York at 3 or above:
- 83.7% Overall quality
- 75.6% design
- 85.4% content
- 56.1% ease of use/navigation
- 67.6% accessibility
➢ The results show, that of those that responded, over 73% of users found useful information and over 59% of these users have already used this information.
➢ The website helped to improve: wellbeing (26%); financial circumstances (4%); physical health (8%); social interaction (15%); connections in the community (30%); ability to cope/resilience (4%). This represented 72% of people who responded.
➢ Using a weighted average method, more respondents found it easier to accesses information in all specified topics (eg. finance, adult social care, health housing etc) than didn’t. There was a
consistency across all topics.
➢ Ease of use/navigation performed least well. This is an area we will be looking at as we move across to another web platform, picking up on the learning from the recent development of our
sister website Raise York.
The areas where there needs to be better understanding of people’s views is around the Accessibility, which scored either very high or very low as well as more resources. More Resources is a function that is available for storing information for professionals that is public facing. The equivalent “Workforce” section on our sister family website Raise York is very well used so a piece of work may need to take place to understand if this is required going forward or needs to be provided in a different way.
The main website provision of information pages and directories have performed well in respect to satisfaction levels.
We have changed the way that we have worked over the last 6 months with directory information being uploaded by our provider and automated messages to inform page holders when it is time to review their information. Feedback information indicated that more people felt that the website has improved suggesting that the changes have not had a detrimental effect on the quality of the website or experience of the user.
Live Well York Contract
The Live Well York contractual arrangements with our current provider PPL have changed and I can now confirm we will have a new contract in place from the beginning of April for 18 months. During this period we will be moving the website across to a microsite (a stand alone website) that will sit alongside our sister website Raise York (for families and young people). Live Well York will maintain its branding as a trusted website and many of the functions will be similar to what we already offer. So, we will be taking a business as usual approach. We will also
be utilising the feedback we have received through the information survey (please see key findings above).
However, this is an opportunity to improve where we can while maintaining what works well. We would like to achieve this through a co-designed approach by providing a number of options in design, functionality and navigation. I appreciate we are all busy so I will endeavour to keep a balance when asking for input with quick and easy ways to respond (mainly by email which will be BCC-blind copied, as it will include residents personal emails). It is in all of our interests that we make this website as good as we can, so would very much appreciate your input.
If you would like to be part of the Live Well York co-design group then please let me know by emailing LiveWellYork@york.gov.uk If you would like an initial chat please contact Carl Wain on 01904 554595.
Service Directory
We now have nearly six hundred services posted, an increase of around one hundred since our last newsletter. This has mainly been due to our partnership work with the Humber and North Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership. There is an increased importance of providing national
resources as more people wish to self-navigate for health and wellbeing solutions. The service directory is a blend of local services and national resources.
If you have any entries in this directory and have not reviewed your entry over the last year you will receive a notification to ask you to review and update your record. You can also do this at any point by going into your record and scrolling down to the bottom and clicking “suggest changes”. With the automated notification you will get a reminder and then a notification that your record will be deleted if it is not updated. Sorry about the impersonal nature of this approach but it is import to have trusted and updated information for those that use the website.

Analytics
The graph below shows the users of Live Well York Website by quarter. Users represents residents, internal staff and organisations. There is deliberately no log in process so it is not possible to separate out the type of user.
Google analytics changed the way they gathered data which significantly affected user analytics for websites across the world. It is believed that this was a result of implementing the requirements of users to opt-out of cookies. Before this change of data capturing there was a steady increase in numbers with potentially now over 50% of users choosing to opt out of cookies. Unfortunately, there is no data for Q1 2024-25 due to there being a glitch in capturing the analytics.
Comparing Live Well York with equivalent websites in the region it performs above average. Please note the reason for the data being low in Quarter 1 2024-25 is due to a glitch in recording Live Well York data with no data captured for at least a couple of weeks.
Residents
Are you a resident of York and understand the importance of people being able to access the information they need and for it to be up to date? Then you could be our eyes and ears. If you notice anything happening in your community for adults, whether this an activity or service then if you have a minute please do check to see if it’s on Live Well York. If it isn’t then please contact LiveWellYork@york.gov.uk. Or if you know the people that run it then please do encourage them to post it themselves.
Work in Progress
We are currently working with partners on developing both a mental health and a dementia pathway. We have been engaging with residents with lived experience throughout the process but there is still much work to be done.
Volunteers
Our directories provide the opportunity for you to state you are looking for volunteers in your directory entry. This was available within What’s On directory but is now available in all three directories and will start appearing as people update their records.
