Learning Disabilities

United Response offers a Training, Employment and Community service.

This supports people with learning disabilities to get a job.

They support people into learning and employment.

This provides cookery courses and daily living training.

Brunswick Organic Nursery has a mission to enable people with learning difficulties to enrich their lives through work, developing relationships and building communities.

Autism

Specialist Autism Services have various types of support to benefit people’s lives. They help people to reach their goals and be the best they can.

Specialist Autism Services runs a structured programme of daily social skills workshops.

These provide opportunities for people to develop social skills in a non-pressured and engaging way.

A social skill is any skill that helps somebody communicate with others.

Workshop topics include creative arts, drama, money management and independent living.

Mental Health

Converge is a partnership between York St John and mental health service providers in York.

They offer high quality learning opportunities to people who use NHS and non-statutory mental health services and are over 18 years old.

Family

York Learning offer Family Learning courses in places such as children's centres, primary schools, libraries and community centres.

They provide opportunities for people to brush up their skills, which can also help their children learn.

All courses are free and free childcare is offered for some daytime courses.

Older People

Experience Counts programmes are free to everyone over the age of 50. 

They offer small group sessions, once a week over 5 or 6 weeks.

They aim to build the individual’s confidence, self-esteem and help them understand their skills and talents.
