Short Breaks & Holidays for Carers

A number of organisations in York offer short breaks and holidays for carers and can help you to take some time off from your caring role by offering information, advice and support for carers, or acting as a gateway to other services you may need.

Short breaks services include:

• sitting services where somebody 'sits' with the person you care for, to allow you some time for yourself
• group meetings with other carers or organised activities
• support for the person you care for when you go away

As part of an assessment for the cared for person or carers assessment you may be eligible for a short break in the form of a direct payment or personal budget.
