Call for Events now Open for York International Women’s Week (YIWW)

3rd - 8th March 2025

To mark International Women’s Day, 8th March, YIWW will once again put together a lively programme focussed on the lives of women and girls locally and globally. YIWW invites individuals and organisations to submit an event around the theme of ‘Looking Forward, Moving Forward’. The focus is on hope and solidarity to help persevere in these difficult times and to work towards a better future.

Zahra, a volunteer for YIWW 2024, wrote: “I found that creating spaces to include as many voices and stories as possible is the most politically impactful thing we are doing. In these spaces, a beautiful sense of sisterhood emerges.”

YIWW’s volunteers welcome many different kinds of events, from workshops to more formal talks, from performances to crafting, from clothes swaps to exhibitions, and much more – they love surprises!  Events can be online, in person (or both), and can last from an hour, a day, or even the whole week. YIWW are keen to make this a real community event that brings women together through a wide variety of events.

As one organiser from our March 2024 programme remarked:  “It was good to feel connected with other women of all ages”

The Call for Events is now open! Full details on www.yorkwomen.org.uk, or contact YIWW on yorkwomensvoices@gmail.com, via Facebook or Instagram @yorkwomen. The closing date is 8th January, and early submissions are welcome. YIWW look forward to hearing from you.
