Description
What Is It? A sensor that monitors both high and low temperatures and sudden increases / decreases in temperature.
Who is the service for? To protect individuals or property from extremely high or low temperatures, particularly useful for individuals with long term health conditions, where this could adversely affect their health.
How does the device work? The Temperature Extremes sensor monitors for excessively high and low temperatures and a rapid rise in temperature. Typically installed on a wall or ceiling in a kitchen, to protect people and property against extremes of temperature.
Cost There is no charge for equipment and installation, as this is provided free ‘on loan’ by Doncaster Council. In both cases the monitoring, alert and response service is currently £3.20 per week (exc. VAT) though anyone aged 65 and over and in receipt of Housing Benefit and/or Council Tax Benefit, is exempt from charges.
How to apply The Telecare service is currently only available to those who are assessed as needing extra support or assistance within the home following our social care assessment process.
Requests for the service can be made by people themselves, their relatives or advocates, staff from health, social care, housing or voluntary agencies, simply by calling Doncaster Council’s Adult Contact Team who will discuss specific needs and make arrangements for an assessment.
