Celebrating Month of Volunteering

June 2018

We know that there are many volunteers in the city who play a vital role in enriching our lives, reducing social isolation and being the eyes and ears of the city to provide help when it is needed in the way it is needed.

York CVS recently led on a community mapping exercise that started to capture some of this information. There were 62 responses regarding the average quantity of volunteers volunteering with local organisations:

Quantity of Volunteers   Number of organisations

              1-5                                               9

              6-10                                             5

              11-20                                          19

              20+                                              29

As part of the month of celebrating volunteering we want to go a step further in capturing this information so we can demonstrate the social value of volunteers and try and build on this each year.

If you do have any volunteers (even if you were previously involved in the mapping exercise) then we would very much appreciate you filling in the very brief form, if you are not sure of the numbers then please estimate:  https://www.livewellyork.co.uk/s4s/FormDetails/FillForm?formid=599

So far:

Number of groups                               62

Number of volunteers                       4,374

Social Value                                           £4,535,011 per year
