Learning Disabilities Partnership Board

Last year we met as a Partnership and listened to what all the members had to say.

We listened to what people said was not working well.

At the meeting people said that as a group we had found it hard to have a good range of people with learning disabilities and their families.

Everyone thought it was really important to make sure that the voice of people with learning disabilities is at the centre of everything we do.

So this can happen the Learning Disability Partnership Board will need to change how it works.

Jamaila Hussain (Director of Prevention Commissioning and Education) will chair the Learning Disability Partnership Board.

We want to make sure that the voice of people with learning disabilities is at the centre of everything we do.

We plan to have a Board that has about 20 people on it. This will include Officers from City of York Council, Health professionals, self advocates and carers.

The biggest group on the Board will be self advocates.

The Learning Disability Board will be for people over the age of 18.

A Young Persons Experts Group will be alongside the Board.

The Partnership Board will meet 4 times a year.

If you are interested in being a regular member of the new look Learning Disability Partnership Board please see the invitation from Jamaila and email the ldp@york.gov.uk to let her know you are interested by Friday 10th June 2022.
