Community Transport and Taxis
Dial and Ride
Dial and Ride provides a door-to-door service, taking you from home to the city centre, supermarkets or local shops.
The buses are equipped for people who have difficulty walking and for wheelchair users. This is a contactless pay service
For more information, see the Dial and Ride page on iTravel York or contact Dial and Ride on telephone: 01904 551441.
York Wheels
York Wheels is a voluntary sector service for people who find it difficult to use public transport in the York area.
Volunteer drivers, using their own cars, provide a transport service for a small charge. Please note that you pay in advance for your journey at the point of booking via card payment.
York Wheels also operates the Dial and Ride service in partnership with City of York Council. To contact York Wheels please call 01904 630080
Taxis
Some firms have their own downloadable apps and payment for journeys ordered online.
Further information on taxis is located on the City of York Council website.
Not all taxi firms can take contactless payment, especially hackney carriages (immediate hire from taxi ranks). Check with the private hire operator if the pre-booked taxi (private hire vehicle) accepts contactless payment.
