Minster Badge

The Minster Badge gives any York residents discounts on parking in council car parks and on-street parking bays.

It also allows Electric Vehicles to park for free between 6.00pm and 8.00am whilst charging at Fast chargepoints.

Blue Badge Scheme

Blue parking badges allow parking concessions for cars carrying people who have an enduring and substantial disability. They are also issued to those who are applying for a Blue Badge on behalf of a child under the age of three, who, because of specific medical conditions, needs to travel with bulky medical equipment, needs to return to the vehicle for treatment or to reach a doctor or hospital quickly or is in a cast due to hip dysplasia.

The Department for Transport (DfT) issue all local authorities with clear guidance on how to operate a Blue Badge Scheme. However all Blue Badge applications for residents in York are managed by City of York Council.

Older Drivers

Driving licences expire when the driver is 70 and then renewed every three years. The GP can advise when a driver may have to, or should consider not renewing their licence.
