Great British Spring Clean
Last updated:City of York Council is appealing to residents, schools, businesses and community groups to get involved in the Great British Spring Clean 2025.
This year the ninth annual Great British Spring Clean will take place from 21 March - 06 April 2025.
During the Great British Spring Clean, the council will lend a hand to support anyone taking part, including:
- providing equipment, to help make jobs quicker and easier to do
- collecting bagged litter
- promoting community events
- offering practical advice
- sharing health and safety guidance
As well as encouraging everyone to organise their own litter picks, this year we are also supporting pre-organised community litter picks and ‘tidy ups’ in areas across the city. Events will be taking place at:
- Monday 24 March, 10am, Westfield March, entrance opposite 60 Grange Lane, YO26 5DR.
- Wednesday 26 March, 10am, Monkbridge Gardens, at site opposite 7 Huntington Rd, YO31 8RA.
- Wednesday 26 March, 2pm, Kings Path to Hob Moor, entrance to path opposite 65 Kingsway West, YO24 4RD.
- Thursday 27 March, 10am, Glen Gardens, East Parade, Pavilion building in the park.
- Thursday 27 March, 2pm, Viking Road Park, entrance next to 44 Viking Road, YO26 5EZ.
- Friday 28 March, 10am, Kingsway North and Burton Green Central Reservations, opposite 4 Kingsway North, YO30 6JA.
- Wednesday 2 April, 10am, Vanguard Shopping Park, outside the Vanguard Management Suite (next to Prezzo), Vanguard Way, YO32 9AE.
If you enjoy taking part and would like to continue, you can register to join over 1800 individuals who volunteer throughout the year across the city in a variety of volunteer roles.
