Rebuilding Lives - 50 Years of Ugandan Asians in York

The University of York is hosting an exhibition to mark 50 years since the arrival of Ugandan Asians to the City after they were expelled from their homeland by dictator Idi Amin.

Through personal artefacts, photographs and testimonials, the exhibition offers insights into life for Uganda’s Asian community before the expulsion, the terrible events of 1972 and their experiences of starting new lives in the UK.

The exhibition runs from 9th October to 30th October 2022.

Free parking after 6 pm only. Charges apply at all other times
