Groundwork's Greenskills Course

Groundwork's Greenskills is an amenity horticulture and grounds maintenance course. For unemployed people aged 19 plus in York and surrounding areas.

Groundwork has been commissioned by the John Lewis Partnership Community Investment Fund to deliver an innovative green skills training programme to unemployed adults aged 19 years plus from areas in and around York. The programme is free to participants, the value of the training is around £800.

Learners will gain a range of nationally recognised qualifications with an option to gain Horticultural level 1, Brushcutter and a CSCS card. We will pay for public transport costs to site (within a York postcode) and will provide each learner with a £5 lunch voucher for the days on site. On completion of the course each learner will also receive a £50 Tesco voucher. Learners will need to get themselves to and from site on time, we will be working in parks in York. Our working day will be 9 am – 3 pm with 30 minutes for lunch. We will provide appropriate PPE though learners will need to dress appropriately, in layers, for outside working. Learners may need to do some additional work at home to gain their qualifications.

Numbers are limited to 12 per course so sign up early.

Group 1: 27, 28 June, 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, 19 July and 1, 2, 8, 9 August 2022
Group 2: 5 , 12, 19, 26 August and 1, 2, 8, 9, 15,16, 22,23 September 2022
Group 3: 14 – 30 November 2022
