Thrive Outside CIC

Thrive Outside CIC

Free outdoor woodwork, craft and campfire cooking sessions for adults.

Thrive Outside CIC offers opportunities for people to get out in nature and learn new skills, including; woodwork, craft, campfire-cooking as well as gentle movement to improve physical health. You can learn to whittle, weave, build a campfire and cook seasonal snacks. There is so much evidence that being outside is great for your mental and physical health.

Research from MIND says that outdoor activity: ‘improves your mood reduces feelings of stress or anger, helps you take time out and feel more relaxed, improves your physical health, improves your confidence and self-esteem, helps you be more active, helps you meet and get to know new people, connects you to your local community, reduces loneliness, helps you feel more connected to nature’

Our approach is gentle, you can do as much as you like, meet new people or work in your own space. It is about the therapeutic benefits of being outside with an opportunity to learn. We are fortunate to have been granted funding from Joseph Rowntree Foundation community fund which allows us to offer free sessions on Fridays at Homestead Park.
