Armed Forces Day 2024 Footbal Fest

City of York Council

The Armed Forces Day 2024 Football Fest is coming to the LNER Community Stadium on Saturday 6 July, 11am - 5pm, with Ladies and Men’s teams from the British Army going head-to-head with North Yorkshire Police in this inaugural competition.

The tournament will see teams made up of members of local military personnel, competing as “York Garrison” versus North Yorkshire Police, taking part in what promises to be a highly entertaining duo of football matches.

Turnstiles open at 11:00am. The Ladies match kicks off at 12 noon and the Men’s match kicks off at 2:30pm. In addition to the football there will be information stalls outside the stadium, and children’s entertainment, music and performances within the stadium grounds. The event is free due to the generous sponsorship of LNER and other local businesses and pre-booking is essential.

Armed Forces Day is an annual celebration of our armed forces communities, their families and veterans where we say thank you for their dedication and service. We hope to raise awareness of the issues this community faces and raise money for an armed forces charity, which this year is Defence Medical Welfare Services, please give generously.

Please note parking is extremely limited onsite so we are encouraging people to use sustainable methods of transport to attend the event such as walking, cycling, electric buses that serve the adjacent Park & Ride and car-pooling where necessary.

General admission tickets are available now at https://www.yorksmc.co.uk/buy-armed-forces-day

For a premium experience, we also offer a limited number of VIP dining packages at £30 per head. This includes centrally located stadium seats, a welcome drink, a two-course lunch in the Director’s Lounge, and networking opportunities with VIP guests including sponsors, LNER, senior military personnel, and city officials. Please email armedforcescovenant@york.gov.uk to secure your VIP dining experience.

We hope to celebrate sport and service with you.
