Stitch Away the Stigma Exhibition & Book Launch

Stitch Away the Stigma

Stitch Away the Stigma is a creative campaign for those affected by the substance use disorder or gambling of a loved one. Those who are affected have been stitching their thoughts and feelings about their loved one and their substance use or gambling as a therapeutic exercise to help them cope. These squares have all been stitched together to make a giant wall hanging which now stands at over 50 ft long.

The wall hanging has been made to show how many people are affected, that you are not alone and to hopefully break down the stigma linked to substance use disorder.

There will be an exhibition showcasing the wall hanging along with the launch of the book in which you can read the stories of over 250 loved ones and how they have been affected. There will also be a private room where you can sit and stitch your own square if you wish to. There will also be a number of charities there who you can speak to if you or a loved one needs help.

There is free parking for anyone attending the event at the back of the railway institute.
