Beetle Bank Social Farm
Beetle Bank Social Farm

Beetle Bank Social Farm is an organisation which supports people with dementia and other long term health conditions to live well by participating in the running of a working farm on the outskirts of York. What we do is sometimes known as care farming and can be described as the 'therapeutic use of farming practices'. Care farms are widely used in Holland and other countries to support people with defined needs. Here in the UK we are starting to establish these kids of services more and more with over 300 care farms currently operating. Our service runs every Tuesday and Wednesday between 10am and 4pm. Options include either half days (10-1 or 1-4) or full days (10-4). There is a cost and sometimes subsidies are available, so pease ask. We engage in a wide range of predominately outdoor activities, such as looking after the animals, growing fruit, vegetables and flowers and DIY etc. There is also a lot of socialising and banter throughout the day! Our service is tailored to each individual and their abilities, interests and needs.
