Explore at York Stadium

Explore provides the public library service for York and manages the City Archive. We aim to give everyone somewhere to dream, to discover and to experiment. We help people get access to opportunities that spark imaginations. We love to share the joy of reading with adults and children. Our network of libraries and reading cafes help people to meet up and connect more deeply with the place they live in.

At York Stadium you can choose from over 3000 books for adults, children and families. We’ve got books on healthy eating and healthy living, sports and exercise, plus lots of stories and information for all ages. The library at the stadium is self-service, and you are able to request books to collect from our other libraries. Delve into York’s sporting heritage with a touchscreen display funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund in partnership with York City Football Club Foundation and York Knights Foundation. You can connect to our free Wi-Fi and there is a media table with space to plug in a laptop.  All our libraries are accessible.

Across our Explore Libraries we offer a variety of regular activities, such as Reading, Craft and Games Groups, as well as activities for children. We also have a range of one-off events for all ages. Find What’s On that you’d like to try out.

If you still love reading but find it difficult to get to your local library, try our Home Library Service which offers you the books that you love delivered straight to your door.

Are you looking for a volunteering opportunity? We love our Volunteers at Explore, and there’s a range of roles available.
