Deaf Advocacy & Support

Description

  • Here at Deaf Advocacy & Support York we believe that everyone should have the same access to services as the next person and therefore support Deaf people to access the care, benefits and services they are entitled to.

  • DASY is run by Amanda who has an excellent understanding of the Deaf culture having been involved in the deaf community since 1986.

All our staff are skilled in BSL, with lived experience of deaf households and we have qualified counsellors, coaches and experience in mental health. Our aim is to support the mental wellbeing of deaf individuals. We do this through working closely with our clients and helping with their social care and health needs.

At DASY we are dedicated to advocating for and supporting the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community. Our mission is to break down barriers, promote inclusivity, and ensure equal access to opportunities for individuals who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. Founded on the principles of empowerment and advocacy, we strive to create a world where communication is accessible to all. Through education, outreach, and direct support services, we are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for our clients.

We are committed to:
  1. Providing resources, support, and advocacy to ensure equal rights and access.
  • Promoting Deaf culture and raising awareness about the importance of communication accessibility.
  • Offering programs and services that empower individuals to thrive in their personal and professional lives.
