Inclusion trainining- deaf awareness and empowering choices

1. Empowering Choices Training - to create a workforce who are less risk averse. 

Living 4 Moments will encourage staff to become less risk averse through a better understanding of legislation and its practical application. This is delivered through face to face training or online training in small groups of eight-ten.  The following topics are covered to maximise their understanding on risk and wellbeing:

•  Mental Capacity Act
•  Care Act
•  Human Rights
•  Risk Assessments. 

Staff/Volunteers understanding and knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act, Human Rights, Care Act and Risk Assessments will give them the confidence to create more opportunities for their clients. 

2. Changing the way staff interact with clients, who have a hearing loss.  

This training is done online and face to face when we can. The course includes the following topics:

• Different levels of hearing loss and their impact.
• How to support clients effectively when talking and listening to them.
• Basic lip reading skills.
• Overview of technology that could help clients in different settings.

By the end of the course staff/volunteers will be able to identify the best ways of interacting with clients and what equipment/resources they may need in order to maximise their clients’ engagement. 

The course is relevant to employers with staff who have a hearing loss.
