Please read on to find out more…
Cognitive rehabilitation aims to enable people with these and other kinds of difficulties to manage everyday life and everyday activities better. This can help to reduce stress levels and improve confidence and well-being. It can also help to reduce the demands on family members or other people who may be providing support.
GREAT cognitive rehabilitation is a therapy specifically designed for people living with dementia. It has been researched for over a decade at the University of Exeter and other Universities. It is now recommended for people living with dementia by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
The therapy lasts for 6 - 8 weeks and takes place in the persons own home where they are likely to be most comfortable. Sessions are usually an hour per week with the person with dementia and their care partner if appropriate. Some regular practicing in between sessions is also really beneficial.
I am currently providing GREAT Cognitive Rehabilitation privately in York. I have been trained as a GREAT Cognitive Rehabilitation Advanced Practitioner and I also have an MSc in Advanced Dementia Studies (Bradford University). I have been involved in dementia care since 2010 and have worked in a variety of settings. For more information or an informal chat please get in touch with me by phone on: 07932 420726 or email: beetlebanksocialfarm@gmail.com.
Cost: The total cost of the therapy is £291.00. This includes up to eight hours of face to face contact, five hours of planning and preparation, insurance and transport costs.
