Description
Beetle Bank Social Farm supports a small group of people living with dementia to spend the day on a farm in Murton, York. Social farming is part of a growing movement in the UK known as ‘green care’ which aims to support people with various conditions to access the natural environment. Social farming is sometimes referred to as the therapeutic use of farming practices.
We enable people living with dementia to participate in the running of the farm in the way they are able to and enjoy. The farm has a wide range of farm animals and horticultural opportunities. Some examples of a meaningful day spent on the farm include looking after the animals, helping with general maintenance jobs on the farm, gardening, growing fruit and vegetables, and woodwork etc.
