Stairlift
Consists of a seat which is mounted to a track and allows people to be moved up and down the stairs while remaining in a seated position. There are many considerations with this type of equipment and advice should be obtained from a professional.
Newel Rail
These rails curve around two sides of the newel post (the upright post/s of the stair banister) to provide a grip where stairs turn. They are available in left and right handed versions.
Second Bannister Rail
Mop stick rails with a 4-4.5cm diameter are easy to grip. The additional rail should be fitted at a height that matches the existing rail. Some walls need adapting to give a secure fixing point for the brackets.
Good Lighting
Good lighting on the whole of the stairs and on landings can reduce the risk of falls and trips.
