The Learning Disabilities Partnership is Changing

Last updated:

The Learning Disabilities Partnership is changing (Easy Read version).

We, the Learning Disabilities Partnership, want to make sure that the voice of people with learning disabilities is at the centre of everything we do. We are creating a Learning Disability Partnership Board. The Board will have 20 people on it, chaired by Jamaila Hussain (Director of Prevention Commissioning and Education). Members will include Officers from City of York Council, Health professionals, self advocates and carers.

The biggest group on the Board will be self advocates. The Learning Disability Partnership Board will be for people over the age of 18. A Young Persons Experts Group will be alongside the Board. The Partnership Board will meet 4 times a year.

Jamaila is seeking self advocates and carers to come forward to form the new Learning Disability Partnership Board. As a member you will share your opinions and views on what is happening in York for people with learning disabilities. You’ll help to make positive differences to how people with learning disabilities can live their lives, now and in the future. All expenses will be reimbursed.

If you are interested in being a regular member of the new Learning Disability Partnership Board please see the invitation from Jamaila and email ldp@york.gov.uk to let us know you are interested by Friday 10th June 2022. This is also the email to contact if you have any queries about the Learning Disabilities Partnership and their aims.
