The City of York Council Health Trainers want to help you lead a happier, healthier life.

There are many things that affect how healthy you are; these include lifestyle factors such as healthy eating, exercise, alcohol and smoking.

Working within local communities, or remotely in order to ensure safe social distancing, the CYC Health Trainers can:

  • provide advice and support on health issues
  • encourage positive lifestyle and behaviour changes
  • improve your health and wellbeing
  • reduce health inequalities

Our skilled trainers are able to offer free confidential one-to-one support and guidance, face-to-face or remotely, on the following:

  • healthy eating advice and weight management
  • finding new ways to be more active
  • quitting smoking
  • reducing your alcohol intake
  • helping you find groups and activities to get back out in the community

If you live in York and are over the age of 16 (12 for stop smoking) and want to make a health or lifestyle change please get in touch.

Quit Smoking and Feel Better

The Health Trainer service offers free support for all York residents, over the age of 12, to help them stop smoking.

As a team we will work with you to help you quit smoking for good by offering:

- Weekly stop smoking support sessions

- Providing clear guidance around the habit, addiction and the social and emotional effects of smoking.

- Ten Weeks free Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) or E-cigarettes for all, and up to 12 weeks free if you're pregnant.
