Green Homes Grant

City of York Council is offering Green Homes Grants and Funding schemes, in partnership with E.ON, we'll be able to make your home warmer, greener and cheaper to heat.

Having received more than £2 million from the government, we're offering grant-funded energy saving improvements for low income households through Green Homes Funding.

Green Homes Funding is available to you if you own or privately rent your home, subject to you meeting the eligibility criteria:

  • you must own or privately rent your home
  • you must have a total household annual income of less than £31,000 per year, or receive a means tested benefit
  • your home must have an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of D, E or G

Permission will also be required from your landlord if you're in private rented accommodation, as they will need to provide a financial contribution of at least a third of the cost.

Free home survey

If you meet the above criteria, we’ll need to carry out a free home survey and an EPC check.

Depending on your eligibility and outcome of a free home survey you could benefit from:

  • loft insulation
  • external wall insulation
  • PV solar panels
  • air source heat pumps
